Evidence Tiers

Argus treats evidence by authority and verification value rather than by simple presence.

Tier 1

Official or source-controlled

Registry records, regulator sources, court records, or company-controlled sources when the relationship is strong enough to support direct treatment.

Tier 2

Structured or corroborative

Submitted materials, bounded screening output, and credible public-source evidence that supports or weakens a claim but does not automatically confirm it.

Tier 3

Weak or contextual

Lead material, weak public-source signals, route-only findings, or unresolved website/domain context that should stay subordinate and caveated.

Key rule

Evidence can support:

  • confirmation
  • contradiction
  • contextualization
  • unresolved follow-up

But not every source can do every job. Website copy, route-only registry hints, and weak open-web results must not be promoted to official confirmation.
